Protein is needed to build antibodies and compliment as well as other immune cells of the body. Diets lacking in sufficient protein are associated with impaired immunity.*
Stress, injury, illness, or infection can cause rapid tissue breakdown and increase protein and nutrient needs. Protein is also necessary for the repair of muscle fibers and the growth of muscles following exercise.*
Protein helps to preserve and build muscle tissue that can burn fat at rest. Protein is also "thermogenic," which means it increases body heat when metabolized and can help burn calories.*
Connective tissue, collagen and cartilage create the structure, strength, and function of the body are all comprised of protein.*
Including sufficient amounts of protein every day helps to ensure strong, healthy keratin production, the type of protein found in hair, skin and nails.*

Q: What is the source of protein in PROTEIN100™?
A: PROTEIN100™ contains two bovine sources of protein: collagen and casein (casein is the more abundant protein in milk). The collagen comes from Argentinean, free-range cattle, and the casein comes from New Zealand, Pasture-fed dairy cows. Both of the proteins have been "hydrolyzed," which means they have been broken apart with water. This changes the protein into more digestible di- and tri-peptides, the forms that are readily absorbed by the gut. The protein is lactose-free and very well-tolerated by most people, but those with severe milk allergies should be advised.
Q: How much PROTEIN100™ should I take?
A: Supplements are intended to replenish what the body is lacking. The amount of protein supplementation depends entirely on the amount of dietary protein consumed – or rather, not consumed! Those with high protein intakes may not need to supplement protein, whereas those who eat very little animal protein, or those having high protein needs (kids, elderly, physically active, those with injury or chronic illness), will need to supplement more. The amount of protein we recommend daily is based on a recommendation of a gram per kilogram of body weight plus 20% more protein to account for activity or high stress levels. To make it easy, a general guide for protein intake is at least half your body weight in grams of protein per day (and more if your needs are higher). For example, if you weigh 150 pounds, you should strive to consume 75 grams of protein each day. If you aren’t eating enough protein to satisfy your quota, then supplement the rest. One ounce of PROTEIN100™ provides 15 grams of highly absorbable protein.
